The Preferences Window: Location Tab
To display the location preferences, select the Location tab in the Preferences Window.
This is where you set your location for events are best carried out relative to sunset or sunrise. For example, you may want exterior lighting to come after the sun sets. The time will vary throughout the year and will depend on your time zone and location.
Longitude & Latitude |
By default, Thinking Home uses the location that the Mac is set for (in the Time Zone section of the Date & Time panel of the System Preferences). You can customize the location used by Thinking Home. The USGS web site http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnispublic provides the latitude and longitude for most cities in the United States. Type your city into their “Feature Name” field. |
Sun Event Tolerance |
Sun-based events may require a lot of memory when stored in a controller. To make it all fit, the times for the sun events will be approximated. You can adjust how much slop, or tolerance, is used when Thinking Home compresses the events. To require times to be very precise, choose a small tolerance, such as 4 minutes. Then the times stored each day will be within 4 minutes of the exact scheduled time of the sunrise or sunset. This may use up all the memory in the controller. If you need more events stored, you can relax the tolerance to something less precise, such as 10 minutes. In this case, actual times will be accurate to within 10 minutes and you can store more events in the controller. |
